The cottage that started it all…

Back in 2008, I made the decision to sell my house and downsize.  I had just lost my big job and knew I wouldn’t be able to afford my adorable little cape.

A friend of mine, offered me the guest cottage on her property.  It was just for a short time since they were doing what I was…downsizing.

As soon as I stepped into the cottage, I felt like I had come home.  The cottage itself was quaint and cozy and there were over 30 acres of land surrounding the main house and guest cottage with ponds and walking trails and it was definitely a place where I could rest, relax, and plan what I was going to do next.

Recently, the house went on the market again and both the main house, the barn, and the cottage has undergone quite the upgrade!

So this is the little cottage that started it all…it’s on the market and whoever owns it really did a nice job updating it…as well as the large house that is on the property.

cottage livingroom

This is the living area, or part of it…the space is quite large.  I had my dining room table in there as well as a couch, chairs, end tables and my semi-large t.v..  There was a pellet stove inserted into the fireplace when I lived there and it looks like they were able to preserve the wide plank floors.

The kitchen was really updated…love the subway tile and the dark grout and the countertop and cabinets…love the floor!

the cottage bedroom one

A few steps up from my the kitchen was my bedroom…it fit my king sized bed in it with bedside tables and had a really nice closet.  A few steps down and straight ahead is the bathroom…I would have love to have seen a picture of that room….it needed some updating.

the cottage second bedroom

A few steps down and to the left is the second bedroom…I used it for my office and studio and a spare bedroom for company.  The floors throughout came out great!

This is the back of the cottage…looks so cute!

Everything happens for a reason, and my time in the cottage is something I will remember all my life.  This experience set into motion…a cottage dream.
